Meet Lynne, Head Receptionist at Medivet Hyde Park.
Can you explain your role in one sentence? To ensure all clients and pets are welcomed into the practice and receive the best care available.
How long have you been doing this role?I have been working in the practice for 8 years.
Did you find yourself in this role by accident or by design?By accident really. My friend used to run the dog day care centre which was linked to the vets. By chance the practice was seeking a receptionist and I was recommended for an interview. The rest is history.
What’s the best part about your role? Getting the opportunity to develop relationships with the clients and see the pets get better. I have recently taken a Pet Bereavement Course and I am very passionate about delivering the best possible care to our clients. We as a practice send forget me not cards and flowers to bereaved clients which is something I feel is very important.
What’s the strangest thing that has ever happened to you in your role? A French tourist once brought in two guinea pigs he found abounded in a biscuit tin on the street. He was very kind and offered to pay for all their treatment as they were covered in mites. I later adopted the guinea pigs and took them home.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not at work?I love to walk my dog Pixie, a rescue dog who I recently adopted as well as spend time with my grandchildren. I also work as life coach from home.
What do you like about this area? I like that there is a real community feel to Connaught Village and that it is slightly off the beaten track away from the noise of Oxford Street.
Where’s your favourite place to go for lunch in the local area? I would have to say Stuzzico. We sometimes order take away to the practice and it’s also popular with clients who can sit outside with their pets.
Who is YOUR hero and what is it about them that inspires you?Mother Theresa, she gave up who her whole life to serve others. She is a real inspiration.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would it be?My bucket list would be a three-month world cruise that would include Australia, South America and South Africa.
