Tate & Lyle PLC recently moved their office to Marble Arch and were keen to support the local community as soon as they arrived. Marble Arch BID worked closely with Tate & Lyle colleagues to identify a volunteering activity that would enable them to make an impact in the community. Our new neighbours chose to get stuck into sprucing up the garden at Penfold Community Hub.
A short walk from Edgware Road, Penfold Community Hub is a dedicated centre offering a variety of activities such as chair yoga and IT support to older people living in the local area. Penfold also has approximately 50 tenants with varied support needs living in residential accommodation on site. The garden offers a calm place for local older people to enjoy nature and is much loved by residents.
The garden’s greenhouse was recently destroyed by Storm Eunice, and Tate & Lyle volunteers kindly donated cold frames to replace this.
Colleagues hit the ground running, assembling four sets of cold frames in under an hour. Armed with their very own branded gloves, volunteers also removed stubborn roots from the soil and helped to prepare compost.

If you feel inspired by the fantastic environmental work of our volunteers, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our Community Programme Manager to see how you can get your colleagues involved.
