Best Birthday Wishes from Waitrose

Waitrose Edgware Road were back in the community again on Thursday 11 July as five Waitrose colleagues teamed up with Neighbourcare to host a birthday party for sixteen service users. The guests were treated to an array of birthday treats, a live pianist and Neighbourcare’s very own version of Mastermind. Neighbourcare is a volunteer-led charity that supports elderly and isolated residents in the local community.

The volunteering day started at noon with the Waitrose colleagues collecting cake, candles and an array of delicious finger food. The volunteers then carefully packed the food before it was transported by the delivery team to the party venue.

Upon arrival, the team quickly set to work, warming food and transforming the space with birthday balloons and bunting. At 3:00 pm, guests were treated to beverages and a delicious selection of hot and cold foods. Branch Manager, Adam Gilbert and Team Manager, Winnie Mensah also took time out of their busy schedules to show their support and chat to guests.

The afternoon came to a lively end with a competitive quiz and a heart-warming group rendition of ‘Maybe it because I am Londoner’ led by a talented Waitrose volunteer.
