Business Crime Group, 23 July 2021

Please join the Marble Arch BID team for our next Business Crime Group, which will be held online on Friday 23 July 2021 from 10-11am.

We will discuss how businesses can support the Police to tackle the persistent issue of phone theft. Over 183 smartphones are stolen every day in the UK, that’s 66,795 smartphones roughly worth £27 million stolen every year. Most of these thefts happen in London, usually through pickpocketing, table surfing, and snatches by criminals riding on mopeds. This meeting will give you and your staff the tools to deal with this issue.

Harvey Beresford, Security and Resilience Manager at the Marble Arch BID, will also brief our members on e-scooters. Where and when can you ride e-scooters? Can they be used on public roads? Do you need a driving licence? We will answer all these questions and more at our next Business Crime Group.

Harvey will also give an overview of what the BID has been working on since the last meeting and share information on the exciting new advances we have made with the Street Team.

Our dedicated neighbourhood coordinator from the Council will update our members on the brilliant work that has been taking place to make the local area as safe as possible.

We will also report back on some of our successful partnerships between a number of outreach, cleansing, council and policing teams to ensure that we continue to improve the look and feel of the Marble Arch area.

Officers from our local Safer Neighbourhoods Team will be on hand to talk through their recent operations, priorities, and insights, as well as answering any questions that our members would like to ask.

As always there will be an opportunity for you to raise any concerns that you have about the Marble Arch area with the relevant stakeholders present. If you have any issues that you would like us to specifically address during the meeting, please get in touch with Harvey.

Please email us to register your interest. Details will be circulated before the meeting.

Marble Arch Street Team Xmas Hours

Marble Arch London BID launched its Business Crime Group meetings in 2018 in response to pubs, restaurants and shops requests for tools to deal with certain types of antisocial behaviour, such as begging and harassing customers. Each meeting focuses on a different, relevant topic usually chosen by and relevant to our local businesses.

Any business in the Marble Arch BID can join our Business Crime Group, which meets on a quarterly basis to receive up-to-date tips, tools and advice from the Metropolitan Police, Safer West End and Westminster City Council’s Integrated Street Engagement Unit.
