Chefs needed at West London Mission

As part of Marble Arch London’s Community Programme, we work with local charities and community groups, one of which is West London Mission, a charity that offers housing, health and educational services to help those sleeping rough to come off the streets.

West London Mission’s homeless shelter on Seymour Place is looking for chefs from Marble Arch hotels, restaurants and cafes who could lend a hand in August. Their regular chef is having a well-earned holiday, and they need a team to run the kitchen each morning – preparing and serving a meal for up to 100 rough sleepers. Kitchen takeover teams of up to 5 volunteers are needed on 20, 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 August.

For many this will be the only meal they eat all day, so rather than the usual breakfast fare of cereal and toast, the centre serves hearty casseroles, pies and stews. If teams are able to bring their own the ingredients it would be wonderful, but the centre also has a supply of food and all the store cupboard items you will need for this ready, steady, cook challenge.

Our Community Programme Manager would love to support any team who feels able to take on one or more of these days. We will provide a volunteer briefing document and risk assessment in advance and be on hand during your volunteering to answer questions, take photographs and write up a case study, celebrating your impact.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Emily, our Community Programme Manager on community@marble-arch.lonon or by calling 020 3145 1207.
