Corporate Volunteers Support Local Employability

Corporate volunteers recently came together to help local jobseekers build confidence and sharpen their interview skills at a dedicated employability session. The team of volunteers, including a staff member from Healthcare Central London, supported around 30 participants, helping them increase their confidence and develop key interview techniques to enhance their prospects in the job market.

A corporate volunteer is ready to welcome another client for their mock interview.

Held at the Stowe Centre on Harrow Road, the event was hosted by community partner Paddington Development Trust (PDT) on 14 May 2025, providing a safe space for clients to gain experience and practice interview scenarios. Participants included individuals who had been long-term unemployed, those recently made redundant, and others looking to change industries. PDT’s employment programme supports a wide range of local residents into work, and the involvement of corporate volunteers adds a valuable dimension by replicating real-world interview scenarios from a variety of industries.

Clients from sectors including hospitality, healthcare, and construction attended the session. Volunteers asked a range of interview questions, covering topics such as problem-solving skills and teamwork. Each participant experienced a 15-minute mock interview, followed by five minutes of constructive feedback, including guidance on aligning answers with the STAR technique.

Job seekers are given encouragement and pointers from local employees to prepare for interviews.
