Local people at risk of social isolation were welcomed to an Easter-themed afternoon tea and games session at Hilton London Metropole. Aligned with Hilton’s Travel with Purpose strategy, 12 employee volunteers from the hotel, located on Edgware Road, welcomed 40 older people, including a guest aged 97-years-old, from Age UK Westminster and Penfold Community Hub on 14 April 2025.

The hotel’s Tyburn Kitchen Bar opened its doors to the community groups as hotel staff joined in games of Uno, scrabble, draughts and Jenga among others, with laughter and conversation flowing all afternoon.
Guests were treated to an afternoon tea of delicious sandwiches with a range of fillings including cheese and pickle, cream cheese and cucumber, tuna mayonnaise and roasted vegetables with hummus. Beautifully delicate cakes and pastries, featuring mini chocolate eggs and Easter Bunny chocolate designs, were enjoyed afterwards.

Both community partners support hundreds of local older people to connect to the community in order to reduce isolation and improve mental health. While they run a regular social programme at their hubs in Church Street and Queens Park, the opportunity to treat their service users to a trip out and meet new faces is always a welcome addition to their activity schedule.
