Eating Out On Christmas Day: What’s Open

Are you eating out on Christmas Day? Most London businesses shut down completely on Christmas Day, public transport included. However, Edgware Road is one of the few places in town with plenty of restaurants open all day and ready to welcome you in.

We’ve checked with Maroush and all their venues on Edgware Road will be open all day:

  • Beirut Express, 112 Edgware Road
  • Maroush I, 21 Edgware Road
  • Maroush Bakehouse, 45-49 Edgware Road
  • Maroush Express, 68 Edgware Road
  • Maroush Gardens, 1 Connaught Street
  • Ranoush Juice, 43 Edgware Road
  • Sidi Marouf, 56 Edgware Road

Green Valley’s wonderful food hall will be open in case you need ingredients or something tasty to take away. Other Middle Eastern restaurants on Edgware Road like Beirut Cafe, Sannin, Al Arez and more will also be ready to serve you.

Also open from 11.30am-5pm is The Portman pub and restaurant on the corner of Seymour Street and Upper Berkeley Street which has a 3-course Christmas menu on the go. Might be a good idea to book if there are a few of you. And Simi’s Ice Cream is open too for delicious ice cream and warm sweet treats, so that’s pudding sorted.

As for local hotels, the Hilton London Metropole offers both a Christmas Day festive buffet lunch and a traditional Christmas Dinner (booking recommended) in the ground floor Fiamma restaurant. Lanes of London at the Marriott Park Lane offers a Christmas Day Feast or 2, 3 or 5 courses.

The Brasserie at the Cumberland Hotel has a Christmas Day Package for the Brasserie and Carvery, whichever you prefer, and The Arch London on Great Cumberland Place offers a set lunch or dinner menu in the elegant Hunter 486 dining room. The Crescent Restaurant at the Montcalm London Marble Arch will be open for a traditional Christmas dinner on Christmas Day but they haven’t yet updated their website – watch this space.

Christmas is an increasingly popular time for tourists to visit London and although more pubs and restaurants in central London open up for the lunch trade, visitors are often left with few choices for the evening after the pubs shut around 4pm, other than their hotel. Let’s spread the word that they should flock to Edgware Road!
