The festive spirit came alive on Monday 13 November 2023, as the Edgware Road Christmas Lights were switched on following an animated countdown by children from Christ Church Bentinck C of E Primary School.
The excited group of youngsters gathered outside the Hilton London Metropole to count down to the switch on with real enthusiasm and their faces lit up as the lights came on above them on the lamp columns along the length of Edgware Road.
The Hilton London Metropole and Marble Arch BID welcomed the children, their parents and guardians into the warmth of the hotel where the children sang heartwarming Christmas carols that left their families, hotel guests and staff thoroughly impressed and entertained. The young performers received resounding applause for their confident and amusing performances of “A Gift for the Baby Boy”, “Away in a Manger”, “Three Kings Were Riding”, An Angel Appeared in the Sky” and “Just a Little Bit of Room”.
Inside a festively adorned private room, the Hilton London Metropole’s friendly team treated everyone to hot chocolates and festive cupcakes. Laughter and joy filled the air as guests mingled to a Christmassy soundtrack, heralding the start of the festive season.
The children will each be presented with personalised certificates at school assembly on Friday 17 November, for not only illuminating the Edgware Road Christmas lights but also for delivering a brilliant and entertaining performance that added sparkle to the festive celebration.
