Garden Makeover Boosts Eco learning

Marble Arch BID member Cirrus Logic led a community garden makeover, breathing new life into a local outdoor classroom as part of a volunteer project with a local environmental education charity.

On 23 April 2025, nine Cirrus Logic employees rolled up their sleeves at Blomfield Road in Little Venice, transforming the site into a welcoming and safe learning space for local schoolchildren. Tasks included jet-washing the biodome, planting seeds, landscaping the wildlife pond, deadheading daffodils, relining compost bins and repairing the shed roof.

Volunteers help landscape the wildlife pond.

Despite the inclement weather, volunteers enthusiastically tackled the day’s challenges, with the support of local community partner Plant Environment, a local not-for-profit that creates and delivers Environmental Education Projects to help young people connect with nature.

Primary school pupils from nearby Edward Wilson School use the space at Blomfield Road as an outdoor, practical classroom where they learn about growing vegetables, biodiversity and renewable energy. The school adopted the plot from the Canal & River Trust to help pupils, many of whom live in nearby tower blocks, engage with the natural environment.

The project will benefit over 400 children, beginning with a class of six- and seven-year-olds who visited the same afternoon to learn how to plant and care for herb pots.

Cirrus Logic, a global leader in technology solutions for the audio and electronics industries, runs the Cirrus Logic Environmental Action Network (CLEAN), providing employees with opportunities to support local communities and make a difference to a range of local environments.
