On 31 October 2025 Multiplex led a Construction Insights session for local teenagers wanting to know more about career possibilities in the industry.
Four employees from global construction company Multiplex and its supply chain took time out from their day working on a large development in St John’s Wood, to talk about their roles.
Multiplex invited colleagues from various supply chain partners involved in different aspects of delivering the construction project, to showcase the range of career opportunities available:
- Emtec Products Ltd – a specialist engineering company in the building services sector
- Ground Construction Ltd – a groundworks and concrete frames firm
- Measom – a contractor designing, planning and delivering drywall services

The session helped promote the range of career pathways within the industry to 12 local 13 to 15-year-olds. From on-site practical jobs to behind-the-scenes office and management roles, young people from Feathers Marylebone had the opportunity to meet with a range of employees needed to bring a construction project to fruition.
Feathers Marylebone is a safe and inspiring space in the heart of Church Street ward for young people and the wider community to socialise and learn new skills. This insights activity was part of its packed half-term activities programme for young people to support them to think about careers.
The Construction Industry Training Board’s recent report in August 2025, projected that over the next five years (2025-2029) an additional 200,000+ workers will need to be recruited in order to meet the UK’s construction pipeline.
Volunteers gave an overview of their many varied roles and responsibilities, as well as demystified common misconceptions such as an incorrect assumption about the dangers involved on site, which led to discussions on the range of Health and Safety measures implemented at every building site.
Volunteers also shared more about their career pathways, which included apprenticeships and degree routes, while responding to enquiries into the types of starting salary and salary progression in the industry.
The session culminated with lively discussion break-out groups where young people could speak one-on-one about their own circumstances and career plans, as well as hear in more detail about the opportunities and day-to-day expectations of a career in construction.
Many thanks to all the employees who volunteered to run this session and inspire the workforce of tomorrow.
