Hilton Volunteers Host Summer Quiz

Four team members from Hilton London Metropole brought plenty of summer cheer to a group of 35 older people by hosting a Summer Quiz at Penfold Age Well Centre on 10 June 2026.

The event was hosted at Penfold Age Well Centre which offers a social programme for older people across Westminster. Initiatives like these play an important role in supporting wellbeing and reducing social isolation.

It was hoped the quiz would take place in the hub’s garden, however, while the drizzly weather and cloudy skies meant there was no fun in the sun, the volunteers created a warm and welcoming environment inside.

The summer-themed quiz began with a picture round, where participants identified the flags of popular holiday destinations, followed by a music round featuring classic summer songs, including Summer Holiday by Cliff Richard, Sunny Afternoon by The Kinks and Cruel Summer by Bananarama.

A general knowledge round tested participants on a range of summer-related topics, from the number of tennis courts at the Wimbledon Championships (18 was the correct answer!) and the first name of character ‘Cleggy’ in TV show Last of the Summer Wine (the correct answer was Norman!)

Participants were split into six teams, including the aptly named Team Sunshine and Team Out & About. The top three teams were each awarded a box of chocolates to share among the group.

Volunteers from Hilton London Metropole also helped serve up delicious picnic treats for guests, including mini sausage rolls, fruit platters, pastries and slices of traditional Victoria sponge cake.

Alongside the quiz, the volunteers served up refreshments.

The activity was arranged as part of our Community Programme which supports Marble Arch BID members to engage in the community. From environmental projects to skill-sharing to coffee mornings, there is something to suit every community engagement plan that creates memorable moments and sustainable impact.
