Yesterday, Tuesday 13 November 2018, was the third annual switch-on of Edgware Road’s Christmas Lights, marking the beginning of the festive period in the area. The talented pupils from Sylvia Young Theatre School stood pride of place in front of the Hilton London Metropole to lead us in the count down, press the big button and switch-on the lights!
Following the official switch-on ceremony, Air Commodore Nigel Beet CBE, Chairman of Marble Arch London BID and Club Secretary/CEO of Victory Services Club, welcomed our esteemed guests to an evening of mingling, merriment and musical entertainment as Sylvia Young Theatre School treated us to Christmas carols and cheer inside the Hilton London Metropole.
Kay Buxton, Chief Executive of Marble Arch London BID, thanked the various and essential partners involved in making the wonderful event come to fruition, such as Transport for London, Field & Lawn, as well as introduced our consultation for safer junctions and crossings along Edgware Road, inviting all guests to our open exhibition series in the coming weeks to learn more about the consultation, proposed works and how to pledge support.
Last, but certainly not least, The Rack House at the Hilton London Metropole hosted a top-notch reception to thank all those involved, our businesses, community groups and stakeholders. At the reception Sylvia Young Theatre School pupils received certificates and gift vouchers as a thank you for turning on the Edgware Road’s Christmas Lights. The evening was made complete with decorate-your-own hot cocoa for the children (and some adults), mulled wine for the adults, and delicious canapes such as sumptuous scotch eggs, warming brie tarlets, mini mince pies and tiny toffee puddings!
