Learning Beyond the Classroom

In April 2025, our Community Programme supported 38 pupils from Hampden Gurney CE Primary School and Connaught House School through a series of engaging, educational experiences beyond the classroom. We connect our school members with enriching opportunities by partnering with both local businesses and community organisations to offer pupils hands-on, inspiring activities.

The month began with a heartwarming intergenerational event between 12 pupils from Hampden Gurney CE Primary and residents of Penfold Court in the Church Street ward. Held on 1 April 2025, the Easter-themed afternoon included drawing activities, sweet treats, and lively conversations. The pupils brought energy and curiosity, sparking smiles across the room as they chatted with residents about their favourite school subjects and former professions, including teaching and taxi driving.

Pupil enrichment activities included an intergenerational social.

Learning Beyond the Classroom

Pupils and residents share experiences.

On 30 April 2025, 26 pupils from Connaught House School explored the Grand Union Canal aboard electric boats provided by GoBoat Paddington, as part of the National Gallery’s Take One Picture project. The journey from Paddington Basin to Little Venice gave pupils a unique view of their local environment, from the bustle of the station to the peaceful greenery of Rembrandt Gardens. Along the way, they spotted wildlife, admired colourful flowers, and documented their experiences with drawings of canal boats and local landmarks.

These activities are part of our ongoing mission to support young learners by opening doors to new perspectives and shared community experiences.
