Live Stream Looks Behind the Scenes as Marble Arch Mound Emerges

To mark the start of construction of Marble Arch Mound, Marble Arch London BID has teamed up with Multivista to launch a live stream, allowing the public to follow every step of the exciting installation process, as the 25m high, grass-covered pop-up platform comes to life.

Marble Arch Mound is due to open to the public from 26 July – 9 January after Westminster City Council granted planning permission in March 2021. The one-of-a-kind viewing platform will transform the west end of Oxford Street, giving visitors a spectacular vista from next to the Grade I listed Marble Arch monument across some of the capital’s most renowned locations – Hyde Park, Oxford Street, Edgware Road and Park Lane.

The live stream has now ended. Have a look at the time lapse of the construction:

The initiative is part of the council’s new Oxford Street District (OSD) framework, developed with key strategic partners, to provide a boost for Central London businesses as they recover from the impact of Covid-19.

Marble Arch London BID is supporting this unique and creative initiative, as part of its continued efforts as a champion for business in this vibrant, diverse district in the heart of London. Marble Arch Mound is expected to host 200,000 ticketed visitors, many of which will be considering overnight stays in London, as they look to take in all the sights and sounds the capital has to offer.

The Mound will also offer an immersive and interactive experience for visitors, including a large viewing deck providing never before seen views of London’s West End, as well as a 5,000 sq ft space inside the Mound which will contain an exhibition space.

As one of the supporters of the attraction, we have partnered with Multivista to produce a live stream of the construction process. The live stream will be up until the grand opening in July and will allow people to follow the step-by-step development of the Mound, designed by Dutch architects MVRDV. Once complete, we will release a time lapse showcasing the full construction process of Marble Arch Mound.

We can’t wait for the opening of Marble Arch Mound in July and we know it has already generated huge amounts of public and media excitement and intrigue. This is why we have joined forces with Multivista to provide people with the chance to watch the Mound take shape over the next few months, offering a glimpse of this very unique construction process.

“Marble Arch Mound is just what the doctor ordered, boosting the recovery of London’s hospitality sector – hotels, venues and visitor attractions in Marble Arch and across the West End, as well as pubs, bars and restaurants, as visitors take advantage of everything Central London has to offer.
