The office elves at our business members have been busy spreading the festive spirit, donating hundreds of gifts to local charities this holiday season.
These donations are supporting a wide range of causes, including charities helping disabled children, older people, and those with life-limiting conditions and their families. Beyond bringing joy to beneficiaries, many of these thoughtful contributions are also being used to thank the volunteers who are the backbone of grassroots good causes.
While many of our business members have well-established festive gift giving schemes, this year’s round-up highlights exciting new connections facilitated by Marble Arch BID’s Community Programme. This initiative ensures that the goodwill of our members is matched with local charities in need.
FRAMELESS and Bridgepoint
Employees from FRAMELESS, the immersive art experience, and Bridgepoint, based at 5 Marble Arch Place, joined forces to support St John’s Hospice. They hand-selected and wrapped gifts from a Wish List, including blankets, adult art sets, sweet treats, and more for those with life-limiting conditions. Bridgepoint staff also donated Christmas wreaths to decorate the Hospice’s inpatient unit.
Tate & Lyle
Staff at Tate & Lyle, based in Marble Arch, generously contributed to FoodCycle Marylebone on Rossmore Road, a charity running a community meal every Wednesday and offering free meals and food parcels. Through office collections, they gathered essentials like household staples, toiletries, and festive treats, ensuring guests at the charity’s final meal of the year left with well-stocked food surplus bags to tide them over the holiday season.
Tesco Edgware Road
The newly opened Tesco store on Edgware Road made thoughtful contributions to two local charities. The supermarket kindly provided goody bags, including chocolates and luxurious hand creams, to unpaid carers at OpenAge, as well as gifts such as mince pies for volunteers at Connected Lives, a charity offering parenting support to local families. The donations helped the charities express their gratitude to the amazing teams of volunteers and make sure their vital contributions don’t go unnoticed.
Hammerson
Hammerson have been making regular donations of books to St Peter’s Primary School this academic year. They made an additional donation in December so that every child at the school could be gifted a book to take home for Christmas. Hammerson colleagues have also kindly donated toys, craft sets and books for children supported by the Tresham Centre for Disabled Children and Young People this Christmas. Together, volunteers collected and wrapped a total of 67 gifts to be given to children over the holidays.
British Land
Residents at Daventry House, a new community supportive homes residence for older people, received an early Christmas present from British Land by way of donated kitchen supplies. The residence on Lisson Grove, which houses 60 older people, has a communal activity room and kitchen space, however, has not been able to cater for large groups because of the lack of crockery and utensils. The donation of plates, mugs, cups, saucers, bowls and glasses will make it easier for residents to socialise together, especially during the festive season.
Berkeley Group
Staff and subcontractors at property developer Berkeley’s West End Gate site have raised over £1,000 in just over three weeks as part of their Christmas appeal. The funds, donated through a festive JustGiving page, will go towards presents for local charities surrounding the site.
Thank you
Thank you to every single Marble Arch BID member for their continued generosity, especially during the festive period.
