The Marble Arch Community Programme celebrates a successful 2019, with colleagues from 20 Marble Arch businesses giving over 700 hours to support the local community. Our infographic enables you to see all that has been going on at a glance.
This year the Community Programme has supported three nationwide campaigns. We were delighted to be joined by former Deputy Leader of Westminster City Council and Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Education and Skills, David Harvey, at our Great British Spring Clean event at King Solomon Academy in March. Alongside employees from Cirrus Logic, Cllr Harvey participated in a sunflower growing workshop with Year 3 pupils and spoke to students about the importance of caring for the environment.
We partnered with Imperial Health Charity for Menstrual Hygiene Day and British Land and Waitrose held toiletry collections for St Mary’s Hospital. Demand from customers means the collection point at Waitrose has now become a permanent feature.
In October we celebrated Silver Sunday with a board gaming gala at Victory Services Club. This was the Community Programme’s largest event to date, bringing together 25 volunteers from 13 Marble Arch companies to host 40 guests. The event was opened by Matthew Sykes CVO, the Chief Executive of the Sir Simon Milton Foundation and entertainment was provided by Connaught House School choir.

Another highlight was the cooking workshop we helped co-ordinate to celebrate Hilton’s 100th Birthday. One hundred children from five local primary schools attended the event at Hilton London Metropole Hotel, where they prepared and tucked into delicious healthy sandwiches and all made a veg pledge.

The Community Programme also oversees the donation of resources to schools and charities in the area. This year Marble Arch companies have donated tablets, school furniture, clothing, stationery and board games. Over 900 toiletry items have been collected for local hospitals and homeless shelters and 20 sacks of clothing given to local charities.
We were delighted to be awarded Runner Up by the Association of Town and City Management in the ‘Best Social and Community Contribution’ category earlier this year. This was a nationwide competition and is a recognition of our committment to building and sterngthening relationships between business and community in Marble Arch.
