Marble Arch Silver Sunday Board Gaming Gala 2019

Thursday 10 October saw the Marble Arch Community Programme host our Silver Sunday event for 2019 at the Victory Services Club’s Carisbrooke Hall. Forty guests were joined by over 25 Marble Arch corporate volunteers for an afternoon of cheer, togetherness and board game delight.

The Gaming Gala was run as part of the national Silver Sunday campaign designed to tackle isolation and loneliness, as well celebrate the contribution of the elderly.

Event proceedings were kicked off with a warm welcome from Matthew Sykes CVO, the Chief Executive of the Sir Simon Milton Foundation. This was followed by a ten-minute live performance from the Connaught House School choir. Guests were treated to a rendition of Mary Poppin’s classics, including ‘Spoonful of Sugar’, ‘Let’s Go Fly a Kite’ and the audience favourite ‘Chim Chim Cheree’. The choir then joined our guests and volunteers for a quick game before heading back to school.

Cakes kindly donated by our volunteers where then served to ensure concentrations levels remained high throughout the afternoon. Guests had the opportunity to move tables, meet new people and play several board games; including Roulette, Scrabble, Cluedo, Dominoes and many more.

The afternoon came to a delightful close with a short speech from our Marble Arch BID Chairman, Nigel Beet CBE and a whole group photograph to commemorate the event.

A warm thank you to our volunteers from:

Barclays, British Land, Etc venues, Fulcrum Asset Management, Galliford Try, Grosvenor Casino, HBL UK, Multiplex subcontractors (Essex Services Group), Starbucks, The Hilton Metropole, The Montcalm Marble Arch and Waitrose.
