National Careers Week: Marble Arch businesses inspire local students

Marble Arch businesses played a vital role in equipping hundreds of students with knowledge and insights to help them prepare for the world of work as part of National Careers Week.

Through our Community Programme, employee volunteers from six local companies engaged with students across multiple events, offering career inspiration, practical advice and industry insights. Activities included Careers Talks introducing secondary school pupils to different industries and local employers, an International Women’s Day event championing female career pathways and a Futures Fair providing valuable guidance to college students preparing to enter the job market.

Here we celebrate the transformative activities that engaged and empowered over 400 local students in their employment journeys as part of National Careers Week.

Career Talks

National Careers Week kicked off on 3 March 2025 with a Careers Talk led by staff from Hilton London Metropole for 100 Year 7 students (aged 11-12) at Marylebone Boys’ School. The hotel team introduced students to the diverse career opportunities within hospitality, sharing personal career journeys and insights.

On 4 March, it was Sowga, the mechanical engineering contractor for British Land, who inspired Year 9 students (aged 13-14) with a Careers Talk on vocational career pathways. 90 students learned first-hand about careers in plumbing, electrical work, engineering and senior management from professionals who had trained and progressed through these roles.

Championing women in leadership

On 4 March 2025, three businesses came together to support female students at a Women in Leadership event held at MBS Sixth Form in celebration of International Women’s Day.

The evening began with an informal networking session, where 27 female students had the opportunity to speak with business leaders about career aspirations and professional journeys. This was followed by an inspiring talk from a senior female leader at Hammerson, who shared her career story, and concluded with an advice roundtable featuring representatives from Adams Street Partners and Sowga.
