Old Marylebone Road: Re-surfacing and pavement work

From 30 October to 8 December 2023 Transport for London (TfL) will be replacing the south-side pavement on Old Marylebone Road (from Harcourt Street to Edgware Road) and resurfacing the road itself between Homer Street and Edgware Road.

Pavement Work

Pavement replacement work will take place in two stages. Access to properties will be maintained.

From 30 October to 15 November, 8am to 8pm – the pavement will be replaced between Harcourt Street and 231 Old Marylebone Road:

  • During this phase of works residents’ vehicles are permitted to enter and exit Old Marylebone Road, Cabbell Street and Transept Street from Edgware Road – through traffic will be banned from Old Marylebone Road.
  • No vehicle access to Old Marylebone Road from Marylebone Road will be permitted, with the exception of cycles and buses.
  • There will be a temporary walking route on the road while the pavement is being rebuilt, with access to properties maintained.
  • There will be no access to the small car park adjacent to The Church of our Lady of the Rosary.
  • Buses will not stop at Stop EQ Old Marylebone Road. Customers for the 27, 207, N27 or N207 should use Marylebone Townhall Stop P or Sussex Gardens Stop ES.

From 16 November to 2 December, 8am to 8pm – the pavement between no. 231 Old Marylebone Road and Edgware Road will be replaced:

  • During this period there will be no left turn from Old Marylebone Road to Edgware Road for vehicles, which should follow the signed diversion.
  • There will be a temporary walking route on the road while the pavement is being rebuilt, with access to properties maintained.

Resurfacing Work

From 4 December to 8 December, 7pm to 6am – night works will take place to resurface Old Marylebone Road between Edgware Road and Homer Street, lasting four nights:

  • Old Marylebone Road will be closed to all vehicles between Edgware Road and Homer Street.
  • There will be no vehicle access to Old Marylebone Road from Cabbell Street and Transept Street, residents’ vehicles can enter and exit via Chapel Street. Both streets will be signed on Chapel Street as “resident access only”.
  • Buses will be diverted to Paddington Station via Marylebone Road.

Diversion signage will be in place for through traffic and marshals will be present to manage access to and from Marylebone Road during the works.
