Oxford Street proposals agreed by Westminster

Westminster City Council has today, 25 February 2019, agreed proposals for Oxford Street. The proposals follow a public consultation surrounding the draft strategy that took place at the end of 2018. Marble Arch London BID responded to the strategy during the consultation, which can be found here.

The Council’s overall ambition is to strengthen the world-renowned status of the entire Oxford Street District to ensure it will be a great place to live, work and visit and to secure its long-term future. The plans identify 97 projects across 88 streets, which includes major improvements at Marble Arch. It is inspiring to see improvement to Marble Arch featured in the consultation report as the Marble Arch London team specifically requested such enhancements and considerations in our consultation response.

Over the course of the summer Westminster City Council will carry out more detailed work, such as traffic surveys. Works on implementing the projects are expected to commence in autumn 2019.
