Each year, Marble Arch BID takes part in Silver Sunday, the national day to celebrate older people. This year Marble Arch volunteers were delighted to be back marking the occasion in person, leading a contact-free Silver Sunday games afternoon for local older people at Penfold Community Hub.
On 21 October volunteers from British Land, Artisan People and Hard Rock Hotel joined forces to lead a series of imaginative games, delighting teams of older people with bird bingo, charades and quizzes. Our volunteers led their games with enthusiasm, generating lots of laughter acting out their charades topics.

No games afternoon would be complete without tea and cake, and our volunteers generously donated delicious refreshments for all. For many, our Silver Sunday games afternoon was their first opportunity to socialise with friends indoors since early 2020. As a result, there were smiles all round as people reunited to enjoy a fun afternoon of games and conversation.

The safety of our community is our top priority. In order to ensure the event was as Covid-secure as possible, volunteers and staff took lateral flow tests before the activity, touch points were thoroughly sanitised before and after use and PPE was available throughout the afternoon.
