Waitrose hosts Terrific Tea Party at Penfold

Five volunteers from Waitrose on Edgware Road hosted a terrific tea party at Penfold on Thursday 27 June. The Waitrose tea party catered for 28 local older residents at Penfold Community Hub, a local centre offering stimulating and accessible activities, advice and counselling services to help elderly residents remain healthy, independent and active. The group had perfect weather and guests were able to sit in the walled garden to enjoy tea and cake with the Waitrose volunteers.

The volunteering commenced at 12 noon, with five dedicated Waitrose colleagues from the newly refurbished Edgware Road store collecting quiches, cakes and sandwiches on a trolley dash around the store. The food was carefully packed and transported through the neighbourhood to Church Street Market for the guests at Penfold Community Hub.

Waitrose colleagues made light work of the heavy bags.

Upon arrival at Penfold the Waitrose colleagues quickly go to work preparing platters and setting up the outdoor space with music, bunting and table cloths. At 2:30pm Penfold guests were treated to a Waitrose tea party complete with beverages and a delicious selection of the brand’s award-winning culinary delights. The tea party finished on a high note with the Branch Manager, Adam Gilbert and Team Manger, Winnie Mensah kindly dropping by to show their support and chat to the guests.

The team will be out in force again in July, serving up more treats as part of Birthday celebrations for local elderly neighbours. This event will be organised in partnership with the charity Neighbourcare.
