Westminster Council is developing its first ever plan for the evening and night-time economy. Called Westminster After Dark, the programme involves engagement with residents, businesses and visitors, to reach consensus on a sustainable evening and night life in the city that supports economic growth, retains Westminster’s reputation and minimises impact on residential communities.
Launched in October, Westminster After Dark will see a series of focused discussions, as well as a stakeholder assembly over weekends in January and February 2024.
The Edgware Road district is home to a wonderful selection of businesses offering services in the evening and at night, including restaurants, pubs, cafes, casinos, pharmacies, and supermarkets both large and small – and is an important contributor to Westminster’s evening economy. 20% of those who work in the night-time economy in Westminster are employed in and around the Edgware Road area.
To make sure our members can share their experiences and have an input into Westminster After Dark, the BID has organised a special roundtable discussion for our businesses on Tuesday 9 January 2024 from 3.30 to 5.00 pm.
At this there will be an opportunity to discuss the challenges of doing business at night in Westminster, explore best practice and suggest ways in which both the Council and the BID can provide support.
