In response to the staffing shortages that many hospitality and leisure businesses are experiencing, Westminster Council, supported by Westminster BIDs, launched a recruitment programme on 10 October 2022. ‘Westminster Works’ is a free recruitment service aimed at encouraging new groups of people to work in Westminster. It consists of a team of professional recruiters who source and vet candidates at no cost to employers.
The Westminster Works pledge
At the heart of Westminster Works is a pledge from employers to candidates. The goal is to help shake off those outdated perceptions of working in hospitality and leisure, while also attracting quality candidates.

How can hospitality & leisure businesses in Westminster get involved?
- Sign the pledge: At the heart of this project is a new pledge employers are making to potential applicants. Before joining the programme employers will need to review the promises made in the pledge and decide if they’ll work for their business.
- List your jobs: No repetitive or complicated forms here. One of the Westminster Works recruiting team will take the details of the roles employers are hiring and add them to their opportunities list. Then they’ll get to work finding the right candidates from their database of people actively looking for roles in hospitality and leisure in Westminster.
- Trial shift: All of candidates are pre-screened and ready to work, so employers will be able to focus on making sure they are the right fit for their business. Employers can either choose to invite in staff for a trial shift, or let the recruiters schedule an interview.
