Postal Threat Online Training – 15 October and 22 October 2020

The Marble Arch BID has teamed up with the Metropolitan Police Protective Security Operations team to provide a free online postal threat training session for Marble Arch BID members. This session will teach post room staff how to detect suspicious packages and how to handle them.

Everyday organisations send and receive large amounts of mail. Mail streams into and within an organisation present opportunities for malicious attacks or hoaxes, and without the appropriate security measures, this can affect day-to-day operations, as well as reputation.

The ACT Postal Threat session lasts about 45- 60 minutes and includes:

  • An update on the current threat
  • How to recognise suspicious indicators for an item of mail
  • Actions to take on discovery of a suspicious item
  • The “Remove, Remove, Remove” protocol

Location: Online – via MS Teams

GDPR Refresh Training – 27 January 2021

General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the most important change in data privacy regulations in 20 years. We’re hosting a free refresher course for our Marble Arch London businesses. This course is suitable for anyone responsible for handling personal data.

Following the new data protection rules enforced in 2018, the Information Commissioner has seen an increase in the number of complaints to its office, and more breach notifications. It seems many organisations are still struggling to implement a successful compliance program. They think they are on the right track but many are inadvertently making mistakes due to widespread misconceptions.

In this training we explore the Good, the Bad and the Ugly of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Specifically, why the GDPR is not a tick box exercise, why it is crucial to be compliant and remain compliant, why personal information may be the new ‘gold’, what impact a breach will have on you and your company, the role of the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and what are those cyber criminals up to now?

By the end of this training you will be able to:

  • Understand the key aspects of the GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act 2018
  • Assess the impact on you and your company if you are not meeting the regulation
  • Identify ways you can keep the costs of compliance low and balance this with why GDPR compliance is crucial to your business
  • Adopt a stress-free approach to the management of subject access requests, right to be forgotten etc.
  • Explain what opportunities are that the GDPR presents for your business and how can you maximise them without being buried in paperwork?

Marble Arch BID members may send up to 2 people on this course.

Date and time: 27 January 2021 9am-1pm
Location: Garfield House, 86 Edgware Road, London W2 2EA
