Mental Health First Aid Online Training, 12 January 2021
Mental ill health costs UK employers £34.9 billion each year, the equivalent of £1,300 for every employee in the workforce. This is not only a result of sickness absence, which accounts for £10.6 billion, but includes reduced productivity (£21.2 billion) and replacing staff who leave their jobs for mental health-related reasons (£3.1 billion).
Mental Health First Aid training teaches managers and individuals to identify the symptoms of mental health issues, offer initial help and guide a person towards the most appropriate support. By educating leaders, managers and employees to proactively manage well-being in the workplace we can stop issues arising before they become a crisis and minimise the impact of mental ill health on work and life.
In September 2017 the Mayor of London recommended for Mental Health First Aid training to be adopted across the capital and the government has highlighted Mental Health First Aid training as a “game changer”.
Upon completion of this MHFA Accredited half-day course delegates will have:
- An understanding of what mental health is and how to challenge stigma.
- A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues.
- An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining well-being.
- Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue.
Everyone who completes the course will get:
- A certificate of attendance to say you are Mental Health Aware.
- A manual to refer to whenever you need it.
- A workbook including a helpful toolkit to support your own mental health.
This half day course, delivered online, will take place through a mix of presentations, group discussions and workshop activities.

Postal Threat Online Training, 15 October and 22 October 2020
The Marble Arch BID has teamed up with the Metropolitan Police Protective Security Operations team to provide a free online postal threat training session for Marble Arch BID members. This session will teach post room staff how to detect suspicious packages and how to handle them.
Everyday organisations send and receive large amounts of mail. Mail streams into and within an organisation present opportunities for malicious attacks or hoaxes, and without the appropriate security measures, this can affect day-to-day operations, as well as reputation.
The ACT Postal Threat session lasts about 45- 60 minutes and includes:
- An update on the current threat
- How to recognise suspicious indicators for an item of mail
- Actions to take on discovery of a suspicious item
- The “Remove, Remove, Remove” protocol
