Winter Wonderland 2018

Winter Wonderland 2018 heralds the beginning of the festive season in London today, 22 November 2018 from 4:00-10:00pm for a private public preview. Winter Wonderland officially opens to the public from Friday 23 November 2018 until Sunday 6 January 2019 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm every day, except Christmas Day to give Santa a break after his night of around-the-world gift giving. We’ve compiled your need to know list for this year’s Winter Wonderland including travel information, traffic alerts and safety news.

In its 11th year, Winter Wonderland is synopsis with Christmas in London. With activities for all age groups and free to enter, its a perfect festive destination. You can also pre-book entry tickets to ensure a speedy entry into the park! Although entry is free, some rides and attractions require a ticket, such as the Ice Rink, Magical Ice Kingdom, Peter Pan on Ice, Zippos Christmas Circus and more. Journey to and from Winter Wonderland

The best way to access Winter Wonderland via public transport. The closest London Underground station is Marble Arch and we suggest using Exit 3 Marble arch Hyde Park to avoid crossing the street multiple times. Other nearby London Underground stations are Bond Street, Green Park, Knightsbridge, Hyde Park Corner, Paddington and Victoria. Green Park station is best for step-free access.

If you’re travelling by bus, the best routes are:

North : 6, 7, 16, 19, 23, 36, 52, 73, 82, 98, 113, 274, 390, 414, C2

South : 2, 19, 36, 137, 148, 159, 436

West : 9, 14, 19, 22, 23, 52, 74, 94, 148, 414

East : 30, 38, 274

Although we recommend not driving to Winter Wonderland due to congestion in central London, for those who do travel by car we recommend Q-Park, is a large and secure car park with extensive CCTV systems and patrolled around the clock. It has entrances at Park Lane and Marble Arch.

Traffic alerts

Transport for London is the best resource for up-to-date traffic alerts. You can subscribe to email alerts here to ensure you are always aware of the current travel status.

Bus and road users in the Hyde Park area will be affected until 10:00pm on Sunday 6 January 2019 as large crowds are expected at Hyde Park Corner, Marble Arch and Park Lane areas. South Carriage Drive will be closed whenever crowds get too large.

If using Marble Arch Underground station to attend Winter Wonderland, we recommend using Exit 3 Marble arch Hyde park, which is located directly beside the Marble Arch monument, therefore eliminating the need to cross Oxford Street during this especially busy period.

Safety

Safety and security are of the upmost priority at Winter Wonderland. Winter Wonderland has worked closely with the Metropolitan Police, Westminster City Council and the relevant authorities to ensure its security plans are up to date and effective.

Winter Wonderland also employs a trained and dedicated security staff that will perform bag checks on every visitor upon arrival to the event. There are also additional safety and security checks in place.
There may be restrictions on the size of bags that are allowed into the event. It is strongly advise to not bring large bags or luggage. Please note there are no luggage lockers at Winter Wonderland. Remember to never leave your bag unattended.

The following items are prohibited and possession of any of these items will result in refused entrance into Winter Wonderland. Any article that might be used as a weapon, be deemed to be offensive or abusive, or compromise public safety, will be confiscated and or reported to the police.

Prohibited items include:

  • Knives
  • Fireworks
  • Smoke canisters
  • Air-horns
  • Flares
  • Weapons
  • Dangerous or hazardous items
  • Laser devices
  • Open liquid bottles (closed liquid bottles are allowed)
  • Glass Vessels or Cans
  • Poles
  • Drones
  • Any articles that might be used as a weapon and/or compromise public safety.
