World Day Against Human Trafficking

Marble Arch BID, London Marriott Hotel Marble Arch and London Marriott Hotel Park Lane are hosting an event aimed at the hotel sector to mark the UN World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

The campaign for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2023 aims to raise awareness of disturbing developments and trends identified by UNODC and calls on governments, law enforcement, public services, and civil society to assess and enhance their efforts to strengthen prevention, identify and support victims, and end impunity.

Trafficking is a violation of human rights and is a serious crime as well as a significant risk to those being used in trafficking. Every year, thousands of vulnerable people including men, women and children fall into the hands of traffickers. Victims often face revictimisation through traumatic post rescue experiences and legal proceedings, as well as the emotional trauma suffered through trying to repatriate back to their countries and families and integration into everyday life.

This event, aimed at the hotel sector, will be raising awareness of the experiences and action taken to prevent and protect vulnerable people who are at risk of trafficking.

Specialists in the field within the Met Police will deliver tailored presentations. There will also be a Q&A panel and further information and training that is available to hotels and their staff.
