The Showroom
The Showroom gives space and opportunity for visionary artists to research, experiment and take risks to produce and engage meaningfully with audiences on some of the most important issues of our time.
As a not-for-profit contemporary art gallery, The Showroom commissions and presents art projects and exhibitions that challenge ideas about what art can be and do. For over 40 years, The Showroom has been a pioneer of socially engaged art practice, and they continue to be deeply committed to collaboration between artists and participants from the local community.
The Showroom often works with international artists who may not have yet had significant exposure in London, bringing global practices to UK audiences through major new commissions and presentations. Their programme aims to speak to diverse audiences through exhibitions, off-site projects, events, panel discussions, screenings, book launches, performances, engagement workshops and activations.
Their Schools and Young People programme, Imagining Futures is rooted in the local neighbourhood, and aims to support long-term relationships with schools, youth centres, and the wider community, inviting young people to engage with the gallery, think critically, make work together, and imagine new futures for themselves and the world around them.
